isla lambingIt’s been another busy week for our Westminster campaign.

My three bairns are on their Easter holidays so came with me to the Badenoch and Strathspey Conservation Group hustings in Aviemore last Friday.  They were very well behaved apart from sighing loudly while the UKIP candidate was talking!  They said it was good to see me in action but they would rather spend the time out on the farm with their Grandpa doing the lambing.  Something we have all enjoyed doing this week.

On Saturday we had our now regular street stall in Inverness.  The farmers market was on as well so the town was busy.  Pop by and see us this Saturday if you are in town.

On Tuesday I handed in my nomination papers to the Highland council and am now officially a candidate!  No changing my mind now.

This week saw the launch of our crowdfunder campaign to raise money.  We rely on donations to run our campaigns.  Please help if you can.

The biggest news for me this week was the publication of our Holyrood list selection.  I was absolutely delighted to have been placed at number 2 on the list for the Highlands and Islands.  First is our current independent MSP John Finnie.  We have a real chance of getting several people voted in from the regional list.  The proportional representation system that we have for Holyrood ensures a voice for all and is much more democratic than the Westminster first past the post system.

The diary is filling up over the next few weeks.  I have been invited to take part in ‘Good morning Scotland’ on BBC radio Scotland with Gary Robertson on Tuesday 14th.  The fundraising pub quiz is on Thursday 16th at the Phoenix bar.  On Friday 17th there will be a Yes Alliance Fight Austerity event at the Spectrum centre at 7.30pm then on Saturday I will be heading to Grantown to help the group down there with their street stall.

Don’t forget that if you want to help out in any way then let us know by filling out this form.

Moran taing!
